Create status with card_uri fails

Hey There,

According to the documentation https://developer.twitter.com/en/docs/tweets/post-and-engage/api-reference/post-statuses-update.html you should be able to post to the statuses/update endpoint with a card_uri and create a tweet with this card. Using the same account that created the card I am unable to do this.

Could anyone shed any light on this? Trying to post with card_uri returns a 34 error of unauthorized.

I believe this is specific to the Ads API, but I would have to check to confirm.

@andypiper hey Andy, I had wondered that but it’s explicitly mentioned in the Ads documentation and in the statuses/update documentation that you can post a card_uri using the statuses endpoint. Is this an issue with the documentation or does our app need specific permissions to post these cards? Thanks so much for your time!

I think it is a documentation issue, in that your API key would need access to the Ads API for this to work. We should amend the statuses/update documentation to make this more clear.
