Count changed on tweet button

Last week the count on the tweet button on my website dropped from over 800 to in the 300s. I’m not sure if this is related to Issue #48, but it does not fit the explanation there: https://dev.twitter.com/issues/48

Were tweets archived somehow because they are old, so now they don’t get counted? Is there another reason the count would just change? I use Twitter heavily for marketing, and this is a frustration as now my social proof is diminished.

I’ve cleared cache, etc on these browsers and the count is still the same:
Chrome 19.0.1084.52
Firefox 12.0
Safari 5.1.7 (7534.57.2)
(OS X Lion 10.7.4)

It likely is related to that issue – the Tweet Button counting issues we’ve been working to resolve weren’t just counts that were too small – some counts were larger than they were supposed to be as well. We’re now nearing the end of resolving this issue, and it’s likely that the lower amount you’re seeing now is more correct than the amount you saw before. If you’ve been counting tweets (and paying attention to deletes) and have other numbers to compare against, we’re happy to take a look.

Thanks so much for the response and the update to issue #48 today. I appreciate better count accuracy, even if it does mean my own count decreased.

Unfortunately, I didn’t bother to track clicks for the tweet button, as I figured it was redundant. So no data to compare to.
