Over the past day we’ve had a number of users reporting a “Could not authenticate you” error in response to /statuses/home_timeline and /lists/statuses. The problem seems to be affecting users in Japan, though we’ve had a small number of reports from users in other regions. Is this currently a known issue for users in some regions of the world?
Sorry, this turned out to be a bug in our app. Twitter status IDs have just recently grown large enough to expose an issue in the way we handled 64-bit “snowflake” integers. This led to an invalid request that caused the authentication error.
