Confirmation about conversation_id

Filtering by conversation_id is a bit unintuitive: as far as I understand, a query with a specific conversation_id returns only the following tweets, not the original one, is this correct?
This would imply that when such a query returns no tweet at all, it’s because there was no answer whatsoever to the first tweet, i.e. the original tweet is isolated and thus the full conversation?

Can I get a confirmation about these points please?

This is expected API behavior, but if you specify expansions and set referenced_tweets.id you will get the original tweets in there inside includes.tweets not in data. It’s hard to say what the root of the issues is: It could be the delay between gathering the original tweets, and retrieving conversations (if any) in that time users could have deactivated, or removed tweets, or made new replies.
