Switch to another browser such as Mozilla and it clears the stop running this script error. Did for me anyway.

Same problem here. Once again I cannot type more then 3-5 letters when trying to compose a tweet before the script error pops up and freezes my computer. I miss talking to my friends and family on twitter…I can only read what they are saying…

This has been happening to me as well - no posted “script” or IE solutions have worked (per Google searches) - and @Twitter doesn’t have a thing about this on their site (what a surprise?!?). I too am on XP IE8 - a new refurbished laptop - whereas on my old crappy laptop with XP IE8, I had no issues. So I am at a point where I will use @Twitlonger or will check out that monitter.com link (above) to post.
@Twitter - get it together. Please.
@Everyone else - good luck until a fix goes live.

Just tried http://monitter.com and it works! Yay! I still need to find out why I can’t tweet and get the script error, but until then I’ll use the above link.

By the way, some users who’ve run into this issue have found that using an alternate web browser mitigates the issue for them.

Thanks, but what if we don’t want to use another browser? How Twitter can’t get their site to work with the world’s most popular web browser is totally beyond me - everyone else manages it!

I did a “System Restore” to before the date that I began having trouble. I went back a month. I have not added any new software and if I lost a download of any kind, it may be a good thing. Twitter is now working fine for me. I am tweeting away!

I have been dealing with support since June 6th. Just heard back - get IE10 before U get support. Well Vista only supports up to IE9. Or try different browser. I agree with comments here, Twitter should support IE on XP, Vista & not just Windows8. My problem started before June. A couple of times I received a message that Twitter stopped due to long running script that I could stop the script & Twitter restarted & worked. This rarely occurs, I mostly just hang up forever. I almost always have to type & retype & retype before the characters are entered into the Tweet box.

This is terrible support & a way to run a social newtork product.
