Clarification regarding automated replies




Reading Twitter’s guidelines, I am under the impression that it is against said to create a bot that replies to user tweets, even if it is for their own good, unless they have given their consent for my bot to do so.

Is this correct, even if the bot has been created to help other twitter users, and not against the spam guidelines?


It is not something that is encouraged, because it can lead to low quality content and abuse. You can read all about our automation rules here. There are some exceptions related to brand and other campaigns, for example (which are also mentioned in the rules I linked to previously).

It’s not possible to comment on every single use case, since they are so varied.
