Could someone from Twitter clarify the “Images and Media” section of the Display Guidelines/Requirements? The rules state:
Images and Media
a. pic.twitter.com images available in the Tweet entities must be displayed as part of the Tweet, and must link back to the Tweet permalink page.
b. pic.twitter.com images may not be detached and displayed separately from the Tweet.
My questions are:
- Are third-party developers required to display images inline with the tweet, or is it acceptable to just link to the image?
- Is it acceptable to make either an image thumbnail or a pic.twitter.com link open the image in a separate window, provided it is clear that the image originated from the tweet?
Twitter’s Mac App currently makes the “pic.twitter.com” links open a separate window, and does not show the images inline. Is it reasonable to assume that this behavior is considered acceptable for third party apps?
