Changing app permissions from R+W to RO

When I change my app permissions from R+W to RO, existing user can not sign in anymore unless I manually delete the permissions in https://twitter.com/settings/applications for the specific user and app. The application is allowed to be used to Sign in with Twitter.

When I try to sign in, it asks me to authorize the app (even if it’s already authorized with wider permissions for the current user) and if I click on Sign In… it refreshes the page and does nothing.

Any idea?

There’s an outstanding bug that affects some users and apps that have changed permission levels when using oauth/authenticate. Unfortunately the best thing to do in this scenario is to direct users that need to upgrade access levels to oauth/authorize instead.
