Card whitelisted but no image shows

Hello,

I created a twitter carda, and everything seems to be ok, because I got whitelisted and the card preview is shown correctly, but when I try it on twitter, the image doesn’t show. What should I do?

Here’s the log:

INFO: Page fetched successfully
INFO: 14 metatags were found
INFO: twitter:card = summary_large_image tag found
INFO: Card loaded successfully

Strange. Have you changed the image / image URL since originally validating the card? I wonder if this is something to do with caching in that case.

I don’t think so, I created it 2 days ago and I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think so.
If it is indeed cached, when will it show? What can I do? Thank you for your reply.

Hi,

i have the same problem.
Also one thing i’ve noted, it works for images with domain DIFFERENT from my whitelisted (for same images).
In validator i have no any notices.
Images are not shown neither in validator nor in real tweet.

I got the reason.
My robots.txt blocks image URL for Twitterbot, while access to main URL was allowed.
I think it’s nice to have notice within Card validator about such type of problem.

Hi, Andy,

yesterday it seems all to be good, my Twitter card is ready and activated. Today I posted a blog post, and on Twitter isn’t shown a picture.

The card validator with the URL: https://www.nudelheissundhos.de/2014/11/15/schweinegeschnetzeltes-sahne-sauce-auf-bandnudeln/ shows no error message, only the following:

INFO: Page fetched successfully
INFO: 21 metatags were found
INFO: twitter:card = summary_large_image tag found
INFO: Card loaded successfully

Therefore the post should be shown with the picture but this is not.

Can you help to solve the problem?

Okay,

for a bit I solved the problem. I refreshed the browser. Now the tweet is show with a link right below “view summary”. If I click the link the summary of the blog post will be shown with the picture.

Is this the usual way a summary with large picture will be shown in a tweet? I see also tweets without this link but immediately with a picture or video.

This is expected behaviour, cards show when you expand the tweet / click on the show summary link.

Some promoted tweets and media partners will have tweets shown expanded in the timeline, but the default behaviour is to only show the card when the link is clicked.

I have EXACTLY the same problem.

  1. Site is WHITELISTED.
  2. Card VALIDATES perfectly well - http://punt.ly/index.php?p=200001
  3. TWEET - https://twitter.com/PuntlyHQ/status/535013865361510400 - does NOT show card

I have seen this behaviour on and off throughout my testing with cards. Yet clearly people like @producthunt NEVER seem to have an issue. So it seems to work for some.

This is a real problem as tweets from my site are DEPENDING on the CARD format showing added image and info.

PS: having cards show up a day later is not really useful.

What now?
