Card validator HttpConnectionTimeout on entire domain

Issue: Twitter cards are not working on specific domain. Any urls shared on Twitter from my website don’t have a card. Demo live tweet: https://twitter.com/martijnoud/status/872530520722243586

When running the card validator it simply says Unable to render Card preview and the log says ERROR: Failed to fetch page due to: HttpConnectionTimeout.

Troubleshooting steps tried already: Yes.

• The website loads normally and fast
• Twitterbot and images are not being blocked by robots.txt (or similar)
• Curl shows the rich snippet in the source
• The card snippet is valid (generated by Yoast SEO plugin v4.9)
• Probably not related to SSL handshake issues (Test from ssllabs.com)
