The card validator shows a thumbnail of the last image in my post (railroad tracks with car) when I expect and desire the 2nd image (highlighted aerial photo.) The validator gives no information about why an image was selected/rejected.

Troubleshooting steps: I’ve gone through several pages of troubleshooting steps. The desired image is JPG, under 5MB, etc. Is there some way to see why Twitter selects/rejects images for the thumbnail?

you don’t seem to have a twitter:image tag specified, you have og:image though - i have no idea why Twitter picks the other image but i think specifying twitter:image should work

Thanks Igor. The Jetpack plug-in for Wordpress.com created all those tags, and I don’t yet know how to control them.

All I want is to set the thumbnail in a single tweet.

It is so frustrating that I can’t control the display of a tweet via Twitter itself. I have to set meta tags in the page I am linking to, and hope that they satisfy Twitter’s mystery rules for thumbnail selection.
