Can we use cdn.api.twitter.com to get share count number?

The requirement is to get the share count number for tweets shared . Most sites recommended “//cdn.api.twitter.com/1/urls/count.json” api to use , but I noticed in one twitter discussion saying this was not a public API. But this was an old discussion, hence posing the question again.
Is this api available for public use “//cdn.api.twitter.com/1/urls/count.json” ? Also what steps needs to be taken to get authorization for the cdn.api.twitter api ?

Is there any other api call available for getting the share count numbers only ? There is the streaming api option , but we do not want to go down that way for storing all tweets since we need only the share count number.

No, that’s not a public/documented or supported endpoint, so if you use it you do so at your own risk and and may have your app blocked for not complying with the Developer Policy.

There is no API which provides this data directly at the present time.
