Is it possible to pay the bill by using a credit card, which a private firm has, on behalf of the local government, our client?
We are a small consulting firm and now engaged in a project to make a tourism promotion plan of a city.
Our client is the local government there, and they want to download and analyze tweet data to understand how tourists share information of tourist sights in the city, and how they have changed over time.
They want to download some 100k or more tweets data by accessing Search Tweets: Full Archive / Sandbox, but the number of available tweet data par month is limited to 50k.
Then, they tried to upgrade the package, but they donât have credit cards and dabit cards. Further, they seem to be unable to get ones.
So, they ask us to pay the bill on behalf of the client.
This is an outline of the problem the client and we encountered.
So, the question is, as asked above, as follows: Is it possible to pay the bill by using our credit card on behalf of the local government, our client?
Any answers and suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you!
Be aware that the limits are per http call, so each call in Paid Premium can get 500 tweets, or 30 days worth of tweets, whichever is first (In free sandbox it is 100 tweets or 30 days worth of tweets). So 50k tweets may actually take MORE than 100 calls in practice.
Iâm not twitter but i think itâs perfectly fine to use any valid credit card to pay for Premium - even a prepaid gift card type Visa / Mastercard thing will work - i donât think that part matters at all. But if you want someone from twitter to answer, best place may be contact via Billing Support | Twitter Developer Platform
Thank you for the reply, Igor!
I will try to use our credit card. If itâs not valid, then I will take another action.
Indeed, Iâm new to using the Twitter API services and database things, so Iâm afraid I migth overlook some important featuresâŠ
Tequenical suggestions help me a lot, even if they are really about the basics.
Iâd like to ask one more question about the number of tweets we can download per month.
if we apply to the premium plan and pay $99.00, is the maximum we can download 50K?

Yes - the $99 fullarchive endpoint access will give you 100 API calls, which could give you up to 50K tweets, but in reality it will be fewer.
Thank you again, Igor!
So probably we have to rethink how to collect tweets, because my boss and clients think that we can get the exact maximum number with a bit of additional processesâŠ
I donât get what you mean by âadditional processesâ but calling the premium API will always âbillâ you for each http request, regardless of you you make them.
Sometimes itâs possible to get old tweets from a specific account only if you use the timelines endpoint and the account has fewer than 3200 tweets, that way youâll get everything without needing the premium endpoint.
âAdditional processesâ meant searching words with some queries⊠not so important, indeed.
I completely overlooked that I can search tweets!
I think I can search some words, because the account has some 2 or 3 tweets.
Thank you so much!
