Can streaming API retrieve past tweets on certain topics?

Hello everybody.

I am not a developer and I would like to utilize streaming API for data mining for my linguistics project.

Is it possible to stream past tweets on past event. i.e. #earthhour2013 #AMA2012 etc. If it is possible, how to make it so?

Can somebody please help me. Thanks

No, streaming is only a real-time as they are sent feed. You can use the Search API to look backwards about a week or so. Beyond that, you’ll need to contact a commercial data vendor like Gnip for historical data.
