Can I use REST API and Streaming API in parallel?

I have a Streaming API instance where I collect tweets. My question is can I send requests to get user related info from REST API while I keep my Streaming API instance active?

This question is a bit old, but I have the same question and can’t find a precise anwser. I also have a streaming instance and want to search parallel for specific keywords using the REST API. Is this possible with the same credentials or am I risking to get IP-banned or something?
