Can Cards be placed in/near the end of an HTML file?

Must Twitter Cards be placed in the Header?
I’m trying to reduce my “Time to Glass”.

That is how they are designed. If they are elsewhere, it may work but is not guaranteed to be supported moving forward.

That is too bad; I’d prefer to keep my header as slim as possible to help my users’ web experience the fastest.
