Auto tweet or opt in or opt, legal position

I run a business networking group and people can book on via our website. Is it okay to code the site to send a tweet when they book on to a meeting that says something along the lines of

@whoever just booked on to group name/meeting details

Or do I have to offer an opt in or out option

I am based in the UK

One of the primary rules of the platform is not to surprise users. This kind of thing would surprise them. I wouldn’t advise it without asking for their permission.
