Add a follow button: what does this mean?

My customer wants me to add a follow button to their Joomla 1.5 website. I get confused with all the buzz words such as Follow, Like, Share, etc.
What exactly do you think my client wants when he says add a follow button on his website? Is it just a link to his Twitter page using one of your icons?

Thanks. I used that and it works well. The small hurdle in a Joomla site is that Joomla does not like scripts inline inthe article so the better way is to place the scripts in the template’s main index file.
It works.
