Account Activity API without DM permission

Is there any way to use the account activity API without requesting DM permissions from users?

Our app doesn’t require DM permission, and it doesn’t seem like a good idea to ask for unnecessary higher permission from the user just so we can use the new premium API

Any ideas?

At this point, DM permissions are required because there is not way to ‘filter out’ the DM activities for AAA. For your application, what types of activities would you need delivered vs. not? This would be an interesting feature request for our product team.

Pretty much everything that’s non-DM related in the current Activity API (favorites, retweets, follows etc)
Also need the delete equivalent of them, to help us with compliance.

Unfortunately, we have now lost the ability to get this info, it is not possible to get all the data with the REST API (e.g. who favorites, or who retweets more than 100), this was available previously in the Streams API.

It is a twitter guideline not to ask for DM permissions if we are not using DM functions, so we are kind of stuck now and won’t be able to use the new Activity API
