it’s so annoying that the Twitter developer department wants a google scholar profile and a very very very clear description for a project that’s your first step to writing your master thesis!
in some cases, not all master’s students have a profile link on the university website, a google scholar profile with 100 articles!
every newbie researcher should start with his/her first project and does not have a heavy research resume!!!
of course, no one shares users’ id or tweets id or any sensitive data publicly in his/her thesis presentation and final result of the data analysis.
in some projects, you should use the user’s geolocation to categorize your research data by country!
now should I find an illegal way to have tweets? is it good?!?
of course not! I wanted to use the API legally but twitter just shows that wants to help researchers and doesn’t!
on every platform that has developer API , users can do re-apply
I’m so confused now because can’t re-apply for even an Essential access type of developer account! I applied for the Elevated access type because they hinted that if you wanna start to be a researcher, you can use the Elevated access type, and then you can change it!
I’m so upset because I wrote everything that related but just didn’t tell them what’s my subject. they should even open the access to re-apply for API
It has been rejected after about 3 hours!!!
thank god that they didn’t suspend the account
Now I’ve violated Twitter API rules! that’s so funny

I’m currently facing the same issue. I submitted the link to my Google Scholar profile page, but guess it was not considered as I was further asked to profile a link to my profile in my institution’s faculty or student directory, or a link to my research group, lab or departmental website where I’m are listed.
Unfortunately, these list are not available. I even sent mail to them through my institution email. Alas, they still rejected my request.

so sad to hear that. yep, they define the rules so strictly and you don’t allowed to gather data legally and process them!
I think it’s just a joke that they provide API for developers. they should allow Master / Ph.D. students to have a research account
it seems they agree with illegal data gathering!!!
I have an empty google scholar profile because this was my first research
and applied for elevated access as an academic researcher to have limited access because they explained on a page that you can apply later for the academic researcher after your project has been defined completely.
the big problem is that they’re acting like: “you should gather data illegally with unofficial APIs that mostly won’t work or create another account to have API. so you won’t have any legal way to have data and the API!”
they should give developers a chance to re-apply for the same or another access type after rejection.
I applied for elevated because don’t have a public profile page and an academic email from my university. (to verify my google scholar profile and have academic research access type)
Same case for me. My institution does not provide a website with Master students’ profile. I had my google scholar profile with one publication but I guess that wasn’t enough. After three mails requesting my institution/departmental profile link, I got rejected in the end.

so sad to hear that. I hope that they(the Twitter board) provide a solution or change this method of dev accounts application
