As per the forum announcement you pointed out, we’ve recently introduced an account-based requirement to the cards endpoint that prevents certain accounts from editing cards via the Ads API. If you are receiving the 401 error message “Unauthorized to edit card %s”, then your account is not currently eligible for card editing.
At this time, there is no workaround via the Ads API. If edits are required, you will need to create new cards. Alternatively, you can use Twitter’s Ads Manager to edit cards that are not associated with published Tweets.
Additionally, there is also no API endpoint to check if your ad account is eligible, you’ll know if your account is eligible or not by hitting the card edit endpoint.
