In recent weeks I’m getting a growing number of timeout errors on https://api.twitter.com/1.1/statuses/update_with_media.json . I call the API and don’t get any response. It’s been increasing gradually every day. I don’t get a rate limit error, just no response.
Our software retries, so it’s been manageable for a while because the 2nd or 3rd attempt usually works. But today I got over 300 timeout errors and I’m starting to receive complaints from our customers.
We use API v1.1, over HTTPS, and we use account tokens. We publish, on average, 3 tweets per account per day, so we’re far from the standard rate limits. We’re hosted on Google App Engine, but my understanding is that rate limiting is done on a token basis rather than IP basis, so that shouldn’t be a factor.
Any suggestions on what to check? My application is symphonytools.com
