"404 media not found" after I decided to inactivate the protect my tweets option?

Today I decided to inactivate my protect my tweets option. But after that, all my images won’t show up. (404 media not found)
Then I protected my tweets again and all my images showed up.
Why did that happen? How can I make all my images show if I decide to not -protect my tweets?
