401 on tweeting URL

I am not able to post URLs in tweets. The regular tweets(with out any URL) get posted fine. But when I try to post a URL, I get a 401 error. I even tried shortening the URL using Bitly. But even a bitly URL results in a 401.

Please help.

It’s likely due to not encoding the URL correctly/validly for either a querystring, POST body, or OAuth signature basestring. Make sure you’re encoding correctly.
